Blue Moon - Alyson Noel

Description from the author's site:

Just as Ever is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an immortal, initiated into the dark, seductive world by her beloved Damen, something terrible is happening to him. As Ever's powers are increasing, Damen's are fading—stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life.

Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, uncovering not only the secrets of Damen's past—the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden—but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them—or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker each day...

First off, let me just say that I LOVED Evermore, the 1st book in the series. It's a very fun, feel good, romantic read. :) Blue Moon, though, it's such a huge turnabout. And I don't mean that in a bad way. Okay, let me use an analogy for this. Haha. Evermore:Blue Moon is like simmering:boiling. I guess that's because it's much more intense. In Evermore, you (well, I) used to wonder, 'When are they going to be together? Aaaaak! I can't wait for it'. But in Blue Moon, you know that they are together but it's just those unforeseen circumstances blocking their way, which in this case proves to be a tougher foe. And by foe, I mean that literally and figuratively. Yes, there's a new character! :)

So if you've read Evermore and liked it, you need to go read this. As in, right now! And if you've read Evermore and didn't really like it, I have a feeling, this book can get you to change your mind. :) As for me, I read it in one sitting so I guess it's pretty obvious that I liked it. :) Seriously, I think I weirded out my roommates cause I was periodically going, "Oh, sh*t!", "No, no, no, nooooo!", and all that. :p

Plot: 4/5
Writing: 3.5/5
Book Love: 4/5

I have a love/hate conflict with this series. Evermore I mostly loved, but then Blue Moon came along. Yes, it upped the intensity, but they spent so much time agonizing over whether D&E were going to "do it" that I wanted to gag. And the ending almost made me throw the book out the window. I'm not sure I'll read the next book. I think it depends on whether I calm down before it comes out.

But as far as eliciting an emotional reaction - SUCCESS! lol

@NotNessie: I get what you mean. After I finished it, I just stared off into space and I had to sort out how I really felt about the book. But then I realized that 'maybe' the ending was just what it needed to spice things up a bit. :)

Hope you do calm down before the 3rd book comes out. We need to know what happens next! Haha.

Maybe... I just thought that there would have been enough material for another book just following up with whatshisname and the bad immortals. She didn't need to throw that extra wrench in the works.

But that's just me...
